This year, SISFF partners with Taiwan’s Kaohsiung Film Festival for a special exchange program. The collaboration aims to broaden international networks and explore diverse portrayals of aging in Asian cinema offering audiences a chance to reflect on later life as seen through different cultural lenses, and to discover both contrasts and common ground in how aging is experienced and represented on screen.

The Kaohsiung Film Festival is one of Taiwan’s most prominent film events, recognized for its support of emerging filmmakers and its commitment to experimental, creative storytelling. With a strong focus on East Asian identity, the festival showcases intergenerational narratives that resonate deeply with audiences, offering insight into the present and future of Asian cinema.

This program features four films curated by the Kaohsiung Film Festival. Each screening will be followed by a CineTalk with guest directors, centered on representations of aging in East Asian film.
