Born during the Japanese colonial period, Grandma Hodong lost her mother at the age of 3, and was raised by her father. She got married to avoid being forcibly recruited as a comfort woman for the Japanese military. However, her husband turned out be the violent type, and in his drunkenness, even made her lost their child.
