Dong-sik (Kim Jin-kyu), a music teacher at a textile factory, becomes intrigued by a newspaper article about a murder in Geumcheon. Not long after, he receives a love letter from a factory worker named Gwak Sun-young. He reports it to the dormitory supervisor, and Sun-young is forced to quit. Her friend, Cho Gyeong-hee (Um Aengran), who had encouraged her to write the letter, begins visiting Dong-sik’s new home under the pretext of taking piano lessons. As Dong-sik’s wife (Ju Jeung-nyeo) overworks herself sewing to help finance their new house, her health begins to decline.
